The Pella School Board held a work session to discuss several topics in the district at their meeting Monday. The board reviewed progress with the ongoing ten-year facilities plan, last updated in 2018. The board talked about their retreat held last week, followed up to concerns brought up about by teachers behavioral needs at district elementary buildings, and discussed a goal of Superintendent Greg Ebeling to improve communications in the district. Additionally, the board approved the ongoing sharing agreement for the school resource officer position and received an update about ongoing construction at the early childhood center and Jefferson/Middle School connector. They were also made aware about the district’s certified enrollment count, including details about open enrollment and where students are moving in from and out to. In total, about 39 fewer full time students attend classes in Pella this academic year vs. 2022-23. The Pella School Board will begin a budget reduction process next week, with extensive projections for the next few fiscal years being presented.
