If the Pella volleyball team is to qualify for the state tournament, they’ll have to win three road games to do so.

That potential underdog journey begins tonight as the Dutch (20-19 overall) take on Bondurant-Farrar (16-14 overall, 5th in conference) in the Class 4A region 7 first round. The Bluejays placed 5th in the deep Raccoon River Conference and will attempt to knock off Pella for the first time since August 2020.

Bondurant-Farrar is keyed by senior Jacki Baas and her 198 kills and 47 blocks — both team best marks. Pella will counter with an offense featuring four players past the 100 kill mark, including Katie Scheckel (303 kills is 11th most in 4A), Byrn Higginbotham, Sydney Namminga, and Brooke Schulte.

Postseason volleyball action begins at 7:00 this evening in Bondurant.
