indianola-8

It’s win and in tonight for the Indianola football team in a rare Thursday night game as they visit Des Moines North for the 2023 finale.

The Indians are in a three-way tie at the top of Class 4A District 5 with ADM and North Polk all at 3-1. A win guarantees Indianola a top two finish, and a playoff berth, as either the Tigers or Comets will pick up their second loss when the play tomorrow night. If ADM picks up the victory, Indianola wins the district title by virtue of last week’s head-to-win, while a North Polk victory gives the Comets the championship because they knocked off the Indians two weeks ago.

Coming off the upset victory over ADM, Indianola is a heavy favorite against a Polar Bears squad that has just two wins on the season, but head coach Eric Kluver says that what’s in the past is irrelevant when they get between the lines tonight.

“All the great things that we did on Friday night don’t really mean anything unless we go take care of business on Thursday against Des Moines North. That’s been stressed and talked about and we’ve had a good week of practice. I really think our team is coming around and we’re excited to keep playing.”

Kickoff is at 7:00 tonight at the new Mediacom Stadium on the Drake University campus in Des Moines. Trevor Castle and Rob Hawkins will call the action live on 94.3 KNIA, beginning with pregame at 6:30.
