The Knoxville Volleyball Squad, fresh off its win over Newton in the class 4A regional opener, hopes the road to Iowa City takes a drive north to #9 Nevada tonight. The Panthers for the most part controlled the match against the Cardinals on Tuesday night and now set their sights on a tougher opponent from the Heart of Iowa Conference. It will be two conference champions battling it out for a chance to move on to Tuesday’s Regional Final against either Clinton or 4th ranked North Scott. Just like Knoxville, Nevada ran through the Heart of Iowa Conference unbeaten. By the numbers, it is an even match up with neither team having an overwhelming advantage in any statistical category with the Panthers having garnered more assists, kills and service aces. Panthers Junior Player Hannah Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, the team is confident they can get the win tonight and have been appreciative of the support from the students, also known as The Panther Pit and hopes that Nevada’s gym becomes Knoxville North.
Dunkin: “It’s going to be tough, but if we go in there and try our hardest, and trust each other and talk, I 100% believe we can go up there and win, and if the student section comes, then that’s great, it’ll be even better.”
First serve is at seven.
