For the second straight season, Knoxville Runner Isaac Rankin has qualified for the State Cross Country Meet as he finished in 10th place at the class 3A State Qualifying Meet held at the Pella Sports Park on Wednesday. Rankin’s time was 16:44. While he was not thrilled with his time, Rankin told KNIA/KRLS Sports he worked his way up into the top ten and was happy to have qualified for a second time.
Rankin: “It was definitely hard to get out in that first funnell. I knew there would be a lot of people in that first mile, but I just kept working. It’s pretty cool to go a second time.”
As a team Knoxville finished in 8h place. For the girls, the Panthers were unable to get the team or an individual qualified for State. Halle Baker led the Panthers over the line in 54th with a time of 23:52. Rankin will run at the State Meet next Saturday in Fort Dodge.
