The Pleasantville volleyball team defeated North Mahaska at home Wednesday night in Class 2A Region 3 quarterfinals.
The Trojans opened the match with a commanding 25-17 win to take set one. In set two, it was back and forth between the Trojans and Warhawks, but Pleasantville squeaked by at the end to take it 27-25. In set three, North Mahaska made a couple surges late, but their efforts fell short as the Trojans took the set 25-21 to complete the sweep. Pleasantville Coach Joel Allman was happy for his girls to get a postseason win.
“We had to play together. We had to respond to mistakes because we haven’t done that well in the past couple weeks. We just had to stay upbeat and stay engaged. I felt like we did that tonight. It was a group that just seemed really cohesive not just on the floor but on the bench. I didn’t see mistakes hurting us mentally. I was happy with how we played tonight and super happy for the girls to get a tournament win.”
The Trojans will now travel to Eddyville on Monday to take on the #15 EBF Rockets in the Class 2A Region 3 semifinals. First serve in Eddyville will be at 7:00 pm.
