A Knoxville woman was arrested Wednesday for second degree theft.
Knoxville Police took 37-year-old Amanda Seevers into custody after being charged with theft regarding checks from a closed account. According to court records, between April 18th and April 20th of 2023, Seevers mobile deposited six checks totaling $10,000 into her Great Southern Bank account. The checks were determined to be from a closed So-Fi bank account, which was closed on August 2nd, 2022. During an interview the defendant admitted she knew the account was closed. Great Southern Bank sustained $1,920 in losses due to the mobile deposits.
Second degree theft is a class D felony and Seevers was booked into the Marion County Jail where she has posted her $2,000 bond. Seevers is due in court for her initial appearance on October 26th.
