The Pella Christian football team begins their journey through the Class 1A playoffs tonight, hosting Ogden in the postseason opener.
The Eagles wrapped up the second seed in Class 1A District 6 last week with a 58-34 victory over Colfax-Mingo. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs jumped from fifth place to third in District 7 with a 47-8 victory over Nodaway Valley. While he was surprised to be matched up with Ogden, Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski said it’s a favorable matchup.
“It’s a good draw and it’s not like the old days when we might get one or two videotapes, we actually got all nine of their games. So, we have a lot of videos to study. They’re a nice team, run the ball, throw the ball, big quarterback, big running back, so we just have to focus on playing our best football and I think we’re poised to do that.”
Coverage of Pella Christian’s first round playoff game can be heard live on the KRLS2 stream at KNIAKRLS.com and viewed on the Pella Christian YouTube Channel. Pregame tonight begins at 6:30, with kickoff to follow at 7.
