The Pleasantville football team fell 35-20 on the road Friday night to West Branch in the opening round of the Class 1A playoffs. 

Pleasantville hung tough with West Branch for most of the game, before the Bears pulled away in the fourth quarter. Pleasantville will lose 14 seniors to graduation and head coach Mack Jorth says it’s hard to say goodbye to these seniors and this season. 

“Your heart just breaks when you see those boys so brokenhearted about the end of a career. That’s just such a tough part about sports when you watch guys give so much and be so passionate about something and see it end. It takes a little time to move on from. We will have our recovery time and some mourning or whatever you want to call. You just deal with the end of one thing and begin to turn the page here very soon. We just have to do the postseason stuff and start looking forward to the future.”

The Trojans finish their 2023 season with a 5-4 overall season.
