Local unemployment rates dropped in the month of September, according to the latest update from the Iowa Workforce Development. The unemployment rate in Marion County decreased from 2.6% in August to 2.3% last month. There are 19,570 residents employed and 460 seeking work and receiving benefits. The rate also slightly dropped in Warren County, going from 2.8% in August to 2.6% in September. There are 28,900 residents employed and 800 people seeking work and receiving benefits. Statewide, the unemployment rate in Iowa saw a dip from 3.3% to 3.0% in September, and that number is down from 3.1% at this time last year.
