Knoxville Runner Isaac Rankin will head to the class 3A State Cross Country Meet on Saturday. Rankin, as a freshman, struggled last year at the State Meet finishing 98th at around 18:00. Rankin wants to get over a minute better and his goal is to get in the top 30. Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Rankin’s preseason and season work, but what he does after practice and meets has caught the eye of his teammates.

Splavec: “He definitely does his thing. He’s not afraid to get after it, whether it’s miles on the weekend or a few extra miles after practice or a recovery mile after a meet. His teammates are seeing that and they’re hoping thinking I need to do that if I want to get to State.”

Rankin will run on Saturday at 2:45 in the class 3A race at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge.
