The PCM football team will host the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs tonight.
The Mustangs are coming off a commanding 42-0 shutout of the Interstate 35 Roadrunners last Friday in the first round. In the victory, PCM senior receiver Griffin Olson reeled in four touchdown passes, and the defense pitched its first shutout of the season to seal the win. Junior Running back Adrien Robbins surpassed 2,000 all-purpose yards for the season, and continues to be a force that opposing defenses struggle to find an answer for.
PCM will now play their fourth consecutive home game when they host the 5-4 Golden Hawks. Mid-Prairie is coming off a 49-18 win over Northeast in the first round of the playoffs last week, and they are led by junior quarterback Brady Weber, who has thrown for 1,462 yards on the season and sophomore running back Hudson Ehrenfelt who has rushed for 1,178. PCM Head Football Coach Greg Bonnett knows the talent the Mid-Prairie offense possesses.
“I think they’re a pretty balanced team really. When they’re on the offensive side of the ball the quarterback can do a lot of things. I think he’s a really good runner. I think he’s a really underrated runner. We know he can throw. He’s got 1,400 something yards on the season and three receivers who can catch the ball. His running back and he are a pretty good duo back there.”
Tonight’s game in Monroe starts at 7:00 pm and can be heard live on the KRLS3 stream at KNIAKRLS.com, with pregame coverage at 6:30.
