Caleb Moore rushed for 320 yards and scored two touchdowns as Bondurant-Farrar knocked off Pella 23-6 in the opening round of the class 4A football playoffs in a game heard live on 95.3 KNIA and KRLS2.
The Bluejays took advantage of two Pella turnovers to build a 10-0 halftime lead as the Dutch mustered just 68 yards of offense. It seemed like the tide turned early in the third quarter as a Bondurant-Farrar fumble led to a Luke Hardman one-yard scoring plunge less than two minutes into the half.
But the Bluejays answered with a long kick return leading to Moore’s first TD, then after a Hardman pass slipped through Tyson Barnes’ hands in the end zone for an interception, Bondurant-Farrar marched down the field and put the game on ice. Dutch coach Jay McKinstrey says it just wasn’t their night.
“We just didn’t quite play as well as we thought we could have tonight. We just didn’t execute some things that we have normally done and a few plays here and there didn’t help us. I’m just grateful for our kids the way the played and for our senior leadership this year.”
Pella’s season ends at 6-4 while Bondurant-Farrar will battle Glenwood in the quarterfinals.
