The Simpson Storm football team is a game behind .500 in both overall and conference record, and face an opportunity to even that record today as they host the Spartans of Dubuque. The Storm are coming off of a blowout win over Luther on Saturday where they put up 563 yards of total offense, and will need to have similar success against a Dubuque team that averages 29 points per game, and the two teams feature the best passing offenses in the American Rivers Conference.
Storm head coach Reed Hoskins tells KNIA Sports Simpson will have to be able to move the ball consistently against Dubuque, not necessarily scoring every drive but playing the field position game and punting well when need be, which they haven’t done in tougher games this year.
“We have had opportunities, but a lot of times we have been pinned into a short field on defense or a long field on the offensive side. So giving ourselves opportunities through the kicking game and making sure we are setting ourselves up for success on both sides of the ball is going to be key.”
The game will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA and the SimpsonAthletics.com video broadcast, with pregame starting at 3:35 and kickoff at 4pm, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the call.
