The Knoxville Community School District is looking for the Instructional Support Levy (ISL) to be renewed on the ballot for the 2023 city school elections.
The Instructional Support Levy program provides districts the opportunity to increase district general fund dollars by allowing the district to obtain an additional 10% of their regular program dollars upon board or voter approval. Boards may approve the program up to five years and voters may approve the program for up to ten years. Funding from the ISL is used for instructional materials to be used within the school district. According to Knoxville Community School District Business Manager Craig Mobley, KCSD is estimating $868,000 from the ISL for the current school year, and hopes voters will continue to support the levy.
“It is not a new tax levy. It is just an extension of something we already have. We hope the voters continue to support that, and support the revenue that we get which is spent directly in the classroom, 100% of that.”
The 2023 city school elections are on Tuesday, November 7th.
