Few, if any, volleyball players did more on the court for a single team than a standout for the Dutch in 2023. Katie Scheckel will likely find her way onto several postseason awards lists after showcasing her unique skills in nearly every phase of the game this fall. Scheckel entered the state tournament ranked 12th in Class 4A in kills (322), 27th in digs (307), 18th in successful serves in (340), and 41st in assists (382). She had the most kills of any player in 4A with more than 300 assists, and added 16 blocks. Head Coach Sam Sheldon says Scheckel is a unique athlete that can frustrate opponents with her ability to impact the game from any corner of the gym, and she will be a cornerstone in the success of the program moving forward. Pella finished the 2023 volleyball season at 21-20 overall.
