The #2 Indianola volleyball team fell to #4 North Scott in the class 4A State Championship Game Thursday afternoon 3-0, as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Lancers led from nearly start to finish after an early Indianola first set advantage by three, but they would quickly close out the first set to win 25-17, then continued to play well blocking Indianola’s only attack attempts and the Indians couldn’t block the fierce attack of class 4A All-Tournament Team Captain Abbey Hayes. The Lancers would win 25-16 in the second set, then close out the contest with a 25-12 third set win.

Indians head coach Kent Halstead said after the game he will miss the seniors not only for their contributions in volleyball, but as people.

“I would just say the relationship our coaching staff has with them and the other players. That’s the toughest thing to replace as people, because we are going to miss them. Volleyball wise we are certainly going to miss them, but the type of people they are trumps that. So that’s what I’m going to miss the most, just hanging out with those three in the gym.”

Senior Tori Runyan and junior Aspen Nelson were named to the class 4A All-Tournament Team. The Indians end the season as the Class 4A State Runner-Up, and graduate three seniors in Tori Runyan, Macy Wente, and Brynn Bishop.
