November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, a month to honor the people who have faced a lung cancer diagnosis, the loved ones who rally to their side, and the medical professionals who do all they can to help patients survive and heal.
Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers, and the second leading cause for smokers, and homeowners in the area who have not done so should plan to have their home checked for Radon.
The EPA also says the entire state of Iowa is considered at high risk for radon gas in homes. Short term Radon test kits can be bought online or at local stores, and Radon mitigation specialists are available through the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services. Find more information below.
