The Knoxville Volleyball Squad during this season played its toughest non-conference schedule. The Panthers played nine of the State Tournament teams, winning four of those matchups. Knoxville played class 1A State qualifiers St. Albert, and Holy Trinity, in class 2A Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, which was a conference match. In class 3A it was Des Moines Christian, in class 4A, ADM ,Norwalk ,State Runner-Up Indianola and State Champion North Scott, and in class 5A West Des Moines Valley. The Panthers got wins over EBF, Norwalk and Holy Trinity twice. Coach Mollie Keitges tells KNIA/KRLS Sports beating a state qualifier four different times tells how far the program has come.
Keitges: “Getting to the State Tournament is a big deal, and that’s a big accomplishment. Beating those teams that we did says a lot about our program.”
Knoxville’s final record was 27-10 and a perfect 7-0 in the South Central Conference.
