The Pella City Council met in regular session Monday, moving up their meeting by a day to avoid conflict with the election taking place today.
The council approved video agreements related to Pella Fiber. The agreement added Waterloo Telecommunications Utility and cut Pella’s cost allocation from 11.64% to 6.96%, while also extending the term from August 2025 to October 2026. They also approved a resolution authorizing an application for the Enhance Iowa Grant and state funds for the proposed Pella Rec Center. The council approved the 2nd reading of an ordinance relating to adult cabaret laws in the community. The approval of the reading updated the definition of an adult cabaret to any commercial establishment that’s primary business provides persons who appear nude or live performances that are characterized by an emphasis on the exposure, depiction, or description of “specified anatomical areas” or the performance or simulation of “specified sexual activities”.
During policy and planning, the council reviewed revised policies related to a new sound system in the downtown area.
