The Simpson women’s soccer team missed out on the American Rivers Conference Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Saturday as they fell to Loras in penalty kicks, but will still head to the dance as they earned an At-Large big as announced Monday.
The Storm make the tournament for just the second time in program history, and will travel to host school University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to take on St. Catherine in the opening round. Simpson went 15-2-2 this season, with their only losses coming to conference champion Loras and the Milwaukee School of Engineering, who also made the field of 64.
St. Catherine earned the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title with a 1-0 victory over Carleton, who Simpson defeated earlier this season.
The Storm have their opening match on Friday, and with a win would play on Sunday.
