While the 2023 football season came to an end Friday night for PCM, head coach Greg Bonnett says it’s the journey, not the results that will make this a team to remember. 

The Mustangs fell just 10 points short of a trip to the UNI-Dome in a 31-21 loss to  Van Meter in the Class 2A  State Quarterfinals. Despite just missing the pinnacle of Iowa High School Football,  Bonnett says that players will remember the moments that lead them to a top-eight finish in 2A.

“It’s a game and we enjoyed playing it. You have to remember in these experiences that it’s all about the ride. I’ve won state titles and made the dome and stuff like that but when it’s over it’s still the same feeling. It’s all about the ride and the older I get the more I truly appreciate that.”

PCM finished their 2023 season with a 8-3 overall record and will return several players on offense and defense in 2024.
