The William Penn University men’s volleyball team is hosting an intersquad scrimmage at Pella High School on Wednesday.
The scrimmage is set to begin at 7 pm and is free and open to the public. Head coach of the William Penn men’s volleyball program Luke Bentley says that the purpose of the scrimmage is to promote and generate interest in the sport in Iowa.
“I think the biggest thing we’re trying to accomplish is to raise some awareness for boys or men’s volleyball. We really want to try to break down that barrier that volleyball is a girl’s sport. And at our facility or in our gym, we feel like we bring a great product and we want to get that product out to other people. So, that’s why we’re going to visit Pella on Wednesday, and hopefully showcase some of that to the people of southeast Iowa.”
