There will not be a girls basketball season at Twin Cedars this season. Athletic Director Theresa Davis confirms that there were not enough players to field a team this winter and thus the season was canceled. Davis tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it is not what anyone wanted, knowing after heavy losses to graduation last year, it was going to be tough to get a team assembled this season.
Davis: “Looking into the numbers we kind of knew it was going to be tough. Talking to the girls some of them didn’t want to play this year, getting a job, playing winter softball or volleyball or just taking the season off they’re not playing.”
Davis adds the girls who are interested in playing this winter are looking to join up and share with other area schools. Davis adds the schools have indicated they do not want to share due to bumping up to another class. Davis says the elementary has several girls who play basketball so she hopes they will stay interested and a high school team can be fielded in years to come.
