Voter turnout was significantly down compared to the 2019 elections for Indianola City Council and Indianola School Board.
John Parker Jr. won re-election in 2019 in Ward 1 with 386 votes out of a total of 694 votes, and lost re-election in 2023 to Melissa Sones with only 245 votes out of a total of 523 total votes for the two candidates, 171 votes under the 2019 count.
Running unopposed in Ward 3, Steve Armstrong garnered 344 votes, while Gwen Schroder won in 2019 with 386 votes against Armstrong out of a total of 694, and Josh Rabe had 1,603 votes after the at-large seat saw Heather Hulen win the 2019 election with 1,612 out of 2,840, over 1,200 fewer voters from 2019.
Voter turnout was also down for the Indianola School Board, with six candidates running for four spots. The election Tuesday had 10,404 votes for the board spread across the six candidates, while seven candidates for the four spots in 2019 had 11,236 total votes.
Warren County overall had a 16.44% voter turnout rate.
