The Warren County Board of Supervisors held a special meeting regarding the redistricting proposal Wednesday. The board approved the redistricting, which splits the county into five districts, as the board will expand from three to five beginning in 2025. Board Chair Darren Heater tells KNIA News the proposal now goes to the State of Iowa Legislative Services Agency for approval, then back to the board for final approval. The board also met in regular session, approving the purchase of a replacement metal detector for the Warren County Justice Center, in addition to a van for the Warren County Jail purchased by commissary funds. The board approved a proclamation for National Injury Prevention Day, funds for a cost assessment for the Warren County Administration Building remodel project, and held a discussion regarding the use of Justice Center grounds, which includes allowing the use of the grounds, but not the inside of the building as it brings with it a security risk.
