Tony Ford is stepping into the new role of PCM boys basketball coach after the recent retirement of long time coach Fred Lorenson.
Ford, an A-D-M grad, and former PCM assistant coach, was helping with summer league basketball when he heard of Loresnson’s retirement. Ford later took the head coaching job and takes over a program with a rich history of success under Lorenson. Ford said that he is excited to be the Mustangs new head coach, and is grateful to take over a program that is well established.
“I think that is the benefit of following Coach Loresnon. The program is already there. I’m hopefully just stepping in and inserting myself. I did know the boys already for the most part. The seniors through the sophomores I’ve already coached at some point in their last five years of playing basketball at PCM. The freshman group I haven’t coached directly but I know a lot of the boys already and the parents. I feel like that part is probably the easiest for me but the hard part is all the stuff a head coach takes on.”
Ford and the PCM boys basketball team open the regular season on November 28th at Knoxville.
