Living Windows, presented by the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and THRIVE Knoxville, will take place Thursday evening in downtown Knoxville.
Living Windows is an annual event held on the Knoxville square to kick off the holiday season for the community. Business windows on the square are filled with living displays of people representing the yearly theme. The theme for 2023 Living Windows is “Festive Flicks: A Cinematic Christmas Celebration,” aimed to showcase displays from the most famous Christmas movies. The event will take place from 5:00-8:00 pm, and more than 60 businesses, clubs, and organizations are participating.
The participants will have their own individual theme to check out and a map of participants is available at the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce office. Along with all the displays, the evening will include a ceremonial tree lighting, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Clause, snowball drop, community donation drive, carriage rides, and more. Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director and Living Windows Committee member Nathan Sage encourages the community to come out to this event.
“This is an event where you are going to be a part of the community. The streets are going to be filled. You’re going to see everybody you haven’t seen for a long time if you haven’t got out to enjoy anything. This is a chance to just check out the shops. Stop into Wells Fargo to listen to the high school kids singing Christmas carols. Walk around, and take a ride on the horse carriage rides. Go check out the wreaths in the dental office again to vote on what wreath you think is the best. It’s all Christmas. It’s all fun. There is not really anything bad to it. It’s just a fun traditional type Christmas event.”
