For the first time in several seasons, at least in the time that Coach Matt Ritchhart has been at the helm of the Knoxville Girls basketball Program, depth will not be an issue this season. Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he has as many as 10-12 girls who could see playing time in each game. That means a lot more pressing, and more man-to-man defense than in the past.
Ritchhart: “We have more depth this year and in the past. We’re going to be extending it a little more this year. You’re going to see players extending out and that means more tired legs, and that’s where that depth comes in.”
The Panthers will get their first game-like experience tonight in a scrimmage against Ottumwa while the regular season will begin Tuesday against PCM. Tuesday’s game can be heard live on 95.3 KNIA.
