Bailey Birmingham’s 31 points led the way on Friday night as the Norwalk girls basketball team opened the season with an impressive 76-55 victory at Urbandale. 

The Warriors led 39-30 at halftime and went to the free throw line 38 times in the game, making 23, compared to the J-Hawks 17 attempts.

Birmingham knocked down 3-of-7 three-pointers during her 31-point effort and six other Norwalk girls scored at least five. Senior Anna Larson had 11 points, followed by Pearl Brown with eight, Braelyn Clark seven, Ava Carlson and Avery Thomas six apiece, and Ellie Dueland five.

The Warriors return to action Monday night, hosting ADM at 7:00 p.m.

Girls Wrestlers Open Season at Nevada

The Norwalk girls wrestling team opens their season today at Nevada for the Central Iowa Kickoff Tournament. More than 30 teams will be in attendance, with action getting underway at 10:00 a.m.
