One opponent that the Melcher-Dallas Girls basketball Squad will not be facing this season is an opponent that the Saints really wanted to play. The Saints’ arch-rival Twin Cedars had to cancel the girls basketball season due to low numbers. The Saints however, have added Cardinal, out of the South Central Conference, to the end of the season, and Coach Kelsey Goff is not ruling out adding another team to the slate. She tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it is good for her girls to see different teams from other conferences.

Goff: “This is one of the first times our conference doesn’t have a full list of teams and not playing our rival is a bummer, but getting those non-conference teams to play us and seeing what they can do is great for us.”

This season the Saints will play teams from the Pride of Iowa: Southeast Warren, and Tuesday’s season opener with Wayne, South Central: Cardinal, West Central: Pleasantville, and Iowa Star Conference: Colo-NESCO.
