This is National Apprenticeship Week, an effort by the U.S. Department of Labor to highlight Registered Apprenticeship programs across the country.

National Apprenticeship Week is a nationwide celebration between employers, apprentices, and various partners reflecting the success and value of these programs in the workforce. The Career Academy of Pella has worked with WorkSMART Connector and other colleges and businesses to build several earn-as-they-learn programs for students. Director of Work-Based Learning with WorkSMART Connector Teri Vos says that apprenticeships are a great way to prepare youth to enter the workforce.

“It’s really an opportunity for young people to go into different workplaces, find out what best suits them, and they get to learn some skills that prepare them for a successful and fulfilling future through the apprenticeship. So, we are just excited to be able to get students in those programs and let them learn about their possible futures.”
