The Pella Christian girls basketball team had five players score in double figures Saturday afternoon, as they opened the season with a 67-52 victory at Davis County.
The Eagles overcame early foul trouble to grab a 19-11 lead after the first quarter, before going into the halftime break with a 33-26 advantage. After making some adjustments during the intermission, Pella Christian extended their lead to 50-39 entering the final quarter. The Eagles nearly stretched the advantage to 20 behind some key shots from Faith Kacmarynski and Maggie Heinen, before closing out the season-opening win. Kacmarynski led the double figure scorers for Pella Christian with 13 points, while Karis Fikkert added 12 and Heinen had 10. In their first varsity action, Chloe Snyder posted 11 points and Addie Van Arendonk scored 10.
The Pella Christian girls basketball team opens the year at 1-0 and will return to Eagle Lane Tuesday night for their home opener against Montezuma at 7:30 pm.
