The Norwalk girls wrestling team opened their season at the Central Iowa Kickoff Tournament in Nevada on Saturday. The Warriors scored 13 points and finished 30th out of 34 teams.

Norwalk’s competitors included Margaret Evans at 110 pounds, Hannah Smith at 115, Madelyn Carroll at 125 and Kamryn McWilliams at 190. All four girls finished 1-2 on the day, with pins by Smith, Carroll and McWilliams.

Ankeny won the tournament with 246 points, edging Raccoon River-Northwest by three.

The Warriors return to action Tuesday night, hosting an eight-team meet at 6:00 p.m.

Bowling and Basketball on Monday

The Norwalk girls and boys bowling teams open their season Monday with a 2:00 p.m. dual meet at Newton’s Cardinal Lanes. The Norwalk girls basketball team hosts ADM at 7:00 p.m. and the Warrior boys will play a 7:30 scrimmage at Des Moines Christian.
