The Pella girls wrestling team placed fourth at the Urbandale invitational Saturday. Emmalee Spurgeon won her second meet championship in as many tries in the 155 pound weight division, sweeping pinfalls in three matches that took just 81 seconds. The Dutch next travel to Norwalk on Tuesday.

” With a day to practice and fine tune some things between Thursday’s meet and today’s, it was nice to see our girls making some progress in those areas we addressed. As a staff, we were again really pleased with the effort we saw on the mat today. It was really nice to have Ellison back with us, good for Laney to get her first wrestling experience, and great to see Cami get her first win. Andie put together a really nice tournament today in what ended up being a round-robin bracket for her; she’s really improved her level of physicality from top, which is a nice step for her.”
