The Indianola girls basketball team begins their 2023-24 campaign tonight as they host the rival J-Hawks from Urbandale. The Indians have seen multiple influential players graduate over the last several years, and come into tonight’s matchup losing three of their top four scorers from last season, but head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports this year’s team just seems to have great chemistry both on and off the court, so he expects great effort and intensity with an added bonus of great teamwork to have success this season.

“We have such a fun group of girls that enjoy being around each other. Whether basketball is their favorite sport or their second favorite sport, doesn’t really matter because they are with their best friends and have a similar common goal. Those are the keys I am looking for.”

The game will be broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA and simulcast on the Indianola Activities YouTube channel, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 7:15, with tip-off at 7:45.
