After having the Achieve Scrimmage against Ottumwa on Friday and getting the game winner from Abbie Keitges, the Knoxville Girls basketball Squad plays a game that counts as the traditional starting opponent is PCM. The two teams have met 18 times since 2001 and Knoxville has won 11 of those meetings including the last six. Knoxville struggled throughout the scrimmage against Ottumwa on Friday on the offensive end, but Coach Matt Ritchhart hopes opponents will take their choice of who to defend.

Ritchhart: “Do you sag off and take the lane away from Brittany and then Hannah and Anna Buttell hit threes or so you guard the perimeter and Brittany Bacorn feasts underneath. So I’m hoping that we’ll be a solid defensive team.”

Defensively, Knoxville held Ottumwa to 43 points on Friday and Ritchhart says that has been the emphasis in preseason practice. PCM already has a game under its belt with a 44-38 loss to Chariton on Friday. PCM was led by Addison Steenhoke and her 16 points. Live coverage is on 95.3 KNIA starting at 7:15.
