The Pella Christian girls basketball team worked to overcome a large mid-game deficit but couldn’t topple Montezuma in a non-conference 58-48 loss heard live on the KRLS3 stream Tuesday.

The Eagles closed a first quarter gap to four points at the end of that frame, only to get outscored 19-6 in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles outscored the Bravettes 31-24 in the second half but couldn’t get closer than a nine-point distance. P.C. couldn’t contain the dynamic Montezuma duo of Ellen Clark (27 points) and Shiressa Wetering (14 points), but the Eagles did nab 11 steals.

Pella Christian continued its balanced scoring, with 14 points by Faith Kacmarynski with six steals, 11 points by Addie Van Arendonk, and eight each from Karis Fikkert and Rachel Kacmarynski. The Eagles fall to 1-1 overall and are off until they travel to #2 in Class 2A Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Tuesday, November 28th (92.1 KRLS).
