There is a saying that states: ”And A Child Will Lead Them.” While Twin Cedars’ Holden Roberts would dispute that he is a child, a sophomore in high school is not usually classified as an adult. Roberts have been tabbed by Coach Mateo Varese as the team captain. A rare occurrence with seniors on the team, but Varese says those seniors all wanted Roberts as their leader, because he will be the go to guy for the Sabers this season.
Varese: “The guys rave about him and you have seniors asking him questions. I’ve never been around that situation before where a younger guy is looked up to by the seniors. I think everyone is going to get put on notice, if they aren’t already how good he is.”
Last season, Roberts averaged 13.6 points per game he also led in field goal percentage, and steals. Twin Cedars gets its season underway Tuesday hosting Wayne.
