indianola-8

Despite a season opening loss to Urbandale, the Indianola girls basketball team showed a lot of positives from the contest. The Indians shot 15/19 from the free throw line, made six three-point buckets, and saw sophomore Lauren Olson score 25 points as the team’s primary ball handler. Head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports the team needs to work on not turning the ball over and rebounding, but he is happy with the effort and how the team has worked hard over the first weeks of the season.

“I couldn’t be happier to know the group that I have, the toughness that we showed, and how invested we are in this program and how connected we are. They really are best friends, and growing into a large group of best friends. It’s a fun group to be around.”

The Indians return to action on Tuesday at Southeast Polk.
