A lot of new and different for the Melcher-Dallas Boys Basketball Squad this season. The Saints lost two of the best athletes in recent seasons with the graduation of do-everything Owen Suntken and Logan Godfrey. There is also a new leader on the sidelines as Matt Bennett takes over for John Suntken, who stepped down after last season. It is a very young and largely inexperienced squad this season for the Saints, but so far Bennett has been happy with what he has seen from his new team.
Bennett: “We have a younger team that we have in the past. We played our first scrimmage last Friday at East Union. I like what I saw, the final score doesn’t indicate how the guys played. I’m looking forward to it and it’s going really well.”
A lot of the senior leadership and scoring will come from Bennett’s two seniors Trevor Hoch, and Mason Dejong. Younger players that will be called on include Reece Chiabotta. Melcher-Dallas plays Pleasantville this Tuesday to start the season.
