As part of Food Drive Fridays, the KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio was at the Pella and Oskaloosa Hy-Vee stores on Friday and Saturday.
The event encourages donations to local food shelves and other programs in the area. Hy-Vee shoppers interested in participating can make a donation to local food banks at the register, purchase a few extra items and place them in the collection bins at the entrances of the stores, or by delivering items they purchase directly to local food banks. Hy-Vee District Director DeWayne McIntyre says that he is grateful for customers helping in the effort to combat hunger.
“There is a need in our communities, and so anything that folks can do to help out, it makes a difference and it’s greatly appreciated and I appreciate folks helping us fight the hunger in our communities.”
The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will be at the Pella, Knoxville, and Oskaloosa Hy-Vee’s on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the month of December. Also on Food Drive Friday, the KNIA/KRLS News team is featuring area food pantries and other services helping with local hunger during special edition news magazines.
