The Pleasantville boys and girls basketball teams swept the Melcher-Dallas Saints Tuesday night in a home doubleheader, and Pleasantville junior Joelle Johnson set the school record for most points in a single game.
The Trojan girls defeated the Saints 59-49 with a large portion of the scoring coming from junior Joelle Johnson, who had 39 points on the night. Addison Wadle was the leading scorer for the Saints with 26 points. The Trojan girls move to 1-1 on the season and Allyson Simpson picked up her first win as head coach of the team.
The Pleasantville boys team stepped on the gas pedal and didn’t let off in a commanding 69-19 victory over Melcher-Dallas. Freshman Braylon Bingham shined for the Trojans in the contest scoring 29 points. Senior Trent Jolly also contributed to the scoring with 19 points on the night. The Pleasantville boys move to 1-0 to start the year.
The Trojan girls will be back in action on Thursday when they host Wayne, and the boys will next compete on Friday at Earlham. The Melcher-Dallas girls and boys teams will next compete on Thursday at Southeast Warren.
