Warren County Treasurer Julie Daugherty has announced she is retiring at the end of 2023, after serving in the office since 1999. Daugherty tells KNIA News the time seemed right to retire after meeting the requirements from the State of Iowa, and looks back on 25 years of being Warren County Treasurer.
“It’s been quite a journey. It definitely has been a blessing from God to have a career like this where I can be local in my community and serving the people I know and love. It’s taken my entire family to be an elected official, it’s not easy being an elected official at any level, but I can remember my young children walking the streets of Warren COunty with me and handing our brochures and being very diligent at how it affected all of our lives. But it’s been fun and very enjoyable.”
The Warren County Supervisors will now select a replacement at a meeting later this month to fill the remainder of the term, which is up for re-election in 2026.
