The PCM girls basketball team defeated Heart of Iowa Conference opponent Saydel on Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena as part of the Iowa Wolves High School Hoops Showcase, while the boys team came up short at the showcase.

The Mustang girls were dominant from start to finish as they came up with a 49-24 victory. Tori Lindsay led the scoring for the PCM girls with 17 points, and Lila Milani had 12. The Mustang girls improve to 4-1 on the season after the win and 2-0 in the conference. Tori Lindsay said it was an exciting opportunity to play at Wells Fargo Arena. 

“It was really fun being a sophomore and being able to play at Wells. It was a really fun opportunity for not just me but the whole team. It was a really exciting opportunity to be able to play with my teammates here.”

The PCM boys fell down early in the contest and went into halftime with a 40-21 deficit. Despite having a few runs in the second half the Mustang boys rally fell short to drop the contest to the Eagles 57-45. Jack Jungling led the scoring for the Mustangs with 11 points, and Jacob Wendt had 10. The Mustang boys move to 1-2 after the loss and 1-1 in the conference. The PCM boys will be back in action on Monday against Pella Christian and the Girls will next compete at home on Tuesday against West Marshall.
