The Knoxville Basketball Squads came away with a split at Clark as the girls for the second straight game controlled the game from start to finish to post a 67-39 win while the boys struggled in a 68-58 loss to the Indians heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The girls shot lights out all night building a 23-17 lead after one quarter, then essentially put the game away in the 2nd quarter allowing just six points by Clarke while limiting the Henry girls to 29 combined points. Junior Panther Hannah Dunkin, who led all scorers with 21 points told KNIA/KRLS Sports the plan was to slow down the Henry Twins and make everyone else beat them and job done.
Dunkin: “That was definitely the game plan and we had to stop the Henry girls and stay in front of the post and I think we did that tonight.”
Abbie Keitges contributed 13 points on the night. The boys fell to Clarke by ten and it was too much Jack Cooley from Clarke as he led all scorers with 29 points and wrecked havoc all night. Knoxville was able to get the lead below double digits a few times in the 2nd half, but got no closer than eight. Lincoln Norris led the Panthers with 19 points. Knoxville girls are 2-2 on the season and 2-0 in the South Central Conference, while the boys are 2-1 and 1-1 in the conference. Both teams return home Friday to face Davis County.
