The PCM girls and boys basketball teams defeated Heart of Iowa Conference opponent West Marshall on Tuesday night.

The PCM girls came out strong and went into the half with a 29-19 lead over the Trojans.  In the second half, the Mustangs continued to play well and outscored West Marshall 16-6 in the third quarter to ultimately secure a 52-35 win. Tori Lindsay had an impressive night offensively, putting up 19 total points. PCM Girls Coach Sami Allison-Rodriquez tells KNIA/KRLS sports that she was happy with her team being locked in on the defensive side of the ball and that she was proud of her team’s effort and focus on the night. The Mustang girls improve to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in the conference. 

The PCM boys found their rhythm tonight and were able to come up with a 50-38 win over West Marshall. Junior Gavin Van Gorp led the scoring for the Mustangs with 16 points on the night while seniors Jacob Wendt and Jack Jungling each had 10. PCM boys Head Coach Tony Ford tells KNIA/KRLS sports that his team battled hard and found a way to win against a gritty West Marshall team after a long stretch of games. The Mustang boys move to 2-3 on the season and 2-0 in the conference. 

Both teams will be back in action on Monday when they travel to North Mahaska.
