One person was life flighted after a three vehicle car crash that occurred in Knoxville Thursday night at the intersection of E Main St and Attica Rd.

On Thursday evening at 6:31 pm the Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident. While en route KFD was notified by dispatch that officers on scene were advising multiple injuries and extrication would be needed. Knoxville City Fire Department responded with one squad company, two EMS companies, and one command officer. Departments arrived to find a three car MVA with two victims trapped inside one of the vehicles. Medic crews started to provide care while the squad crew started to extricate the victims using the “Jaws of Life”.

As the victims were removed, they were treated by medic crews on scene. One victim was transported to Knoxville Airport where they were taken by Mercy Helicopter to a Des Moines hospital with critical injuries. Two other victims were transported by ambulance to Knoxville Hospital by Knoxville Fire Ambulance and Pella EMS, to be evaluated for injuries. Knoxville Fire Department was assisted on scene by Knoxville PD, Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Pella EMS, and Marion County Sherriff’s Office.
