When the programming coordinator for Pella Fiber joined the staff, he soon found a purpose to try and document the community’s unique history.

Monte Goodyk has been working with local historians and organizations to put together a definitive look back at the journey of the Tulip City through a multi-episode project for PellaTV, the City of Pella’s local television product. Goodyk has worked to dig deep on several aspects of the rich backstory of Pella, with the help of experts Ronald Rietveld and Bruce Boertje, as well as several others in the community. Goodyk says he’s seeking assistance for the effort, and has already received backing from the Marion County Community Foundation, especially as it relates to storing and preserving vast amounts of digital images and video generated by the project.
