The Pleasantville boys and girls basketball teams will travel to Van Meter tonight for a West Central Conference varsity doubleheader.
The Trojan girls are coming off a 52-47 win over Madrid Tuesday night to move to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the conference. Joelle Johnson is leading the Trojans and all of Class 2A in points so far this season with 135 through the first five games. Van Meter is coming into the contest off a close 58-56 win over ACGC on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs are 2-1 on the season and led in scoring by junior Finley Netten who is averaging 15 points per game.
The Trojan boys are coming off a 68-40 loss to Madrid on Tuesday night as they struggled to come up with much offense at all in the contest. The loss dropped the Pleasantville boys to 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in the conference. The Trojan boys have been led in scoring this season by freshman Braylon Bingham who is averaging 21 points per game. The Van Meter boys are 2-0 on the season after a close 65-63 win over ACGC on Tuesday. The Bulldog boys are led in scoring by senior John Braun who averages 18.5 points per game.
Tonight’s girls game in Van Meter is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 pm with the boys game to follow.
